Rollout Plans

The 20FIFTY is currently in its pilot phase, with production-ready bikes undergoing rigorous testing across Europe. With a pilot size of 250 bikes, we're collaborating closely with key players in the industry to gather valuable feedback and fine-tune the bike for mass production. The expected release date is slated for the beginning of Q3, with production ramping up to meet the demand.

Initial feedback from the pilot phase has been overwhelmingly positive. Clients, management, mechanics, and riders alike have praised the 20FIFTY for its exceptional performance and versatility. Notably, riders have commended its exceptional range, acceleration, dynamics, and economical handling - even with a lot of extra weight, essential for effortless navigation in urban environments.

With a maximum system weight of 200 kg, the 20FIFTY is designed to carry significantly more than the average bike. Its sturdy and sustainable aluminum frame, equipped with our innovative dual-dropout system, guarantees a stable and comfortable riding experience while ensuring durability, regardless of the size of the load on the back. The adaptable drop-out system enables effortless customization to accommodate various use cases. In summary, this bike is a versatile modular powerhouse.

Connectivity and IoT Functionality

The 20FIFTY is powered by advanced IoT functionality, which extends beyond basic tracking and navigation. Real-time data monitoring and predictive maintenance capabilities guarantee optimal performance and uptime, while customizable ride settings cater to individual preferences. Moreover, in the unfortunate event of theft, e-components are deactivated, and our dedicated "bike hunting team" is dispatched to recover and return the bike to its owner.

By leveraging data analytics and remote diagnostics, we can proactively address issues before they impact operations, ensuring maximum efficiency for our clients.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

The development of the 20FIFTY was filled with hurdles. Sourcing components with extraordinary usage requirements and optimizing the e-component system proved to be no ordinary task, given the absence of existing solutions. Additionally, adapting to the out-of-norm maximum system weight of 200kg presented another significant challenge. Numerous lab tests resulted in component failures across dozens of parts. Just when we thought our setup was complete, another part broke – typically during the final stress-test at 98.5% completion. This required us to continually source, replace, and retest each component. However, through perseverance and collaboration, we overcame these obstacles, culminating in a product we are truly proud of.

This journey has imparted invaluable lessons about innovation, adaptability, and the power of collective effort. And while we celebrate our achievements, we know that this is just the beginning.

Why "20FIFTY"?

The question about the name is one we've heard countless times over the years. So, why did we choose to call it 20FIFTY? The answer is simple. To keep global warming to no more than 1.5°C  – as called for in the Paris Agreement – emissions need to be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050. Transportation ranks as the second most polluting industry globally, and we firmly believe that over 50% of commercial inner-city transportation could be handled by (cargo) bicycles. Hence, the name 20FIFTY. It symbolizes a new era in transportation, where innovation blends seamlessly with practicality to redefine urban logistics.
